Hi, I’m Alice and welcome to my blog. I’m a home-educating Mum to 3 small children - 2 boys aged 4 and 6 and a 1 year old girl. I’m a Christian and I love reading, walking in the countryside, gardening, baking, listening to music and spending time at home with my family. We are fairly informal and eclectic and use ideas from Ruth Beechick, Charlotte Mason, Living Math and "Five in a Row" unit studies. We enjoy country walks, drawing and painting, singing and lots of games.

No ... it's Michael Gove

The new Education Secretary will be Michael Gove.

And here is a link to the LibCon agreement.

LibCon agreement

There's no mention of HE but I guess there wouldn't be at this level.

They also agree to:
"The scrapping of ID card scheme, the National Identity register, the next generation of biometric passports and the Contact Point Database."

Loud cheers all round!!

  1. Gove is a good result I think. Given the conservatives strong work in the 'washup' to see off certain of the education bill's wretched components. I had a letter from Cameron before the election which made it clear they were much more on the side of home ed than Labour.

  2. Yes! And certainly a lot better than Ed Balls :-) The next question is whether it's better to introduce HE legislation in a more sympathetic adminstration, hoping this "legitimises" HE in the politicians' view and staves off worse legislation in a future (possibly Labour) government. I'm in two minds about this.
